Never Lose A Lead

How to Automate Follow-up To A Lead Using ActiveCampaign

Most businesses lose leads simply because they don’t follow up.

How many leads have you lost because you simply didn't have the capacity to follow-up consistently?

Did you know, a lead needs between 7 to 23 interactions with you before they will transact with you, and did you know most people only follow-up 3 - 5 times before they give up?

Now, Let’s fix that by automating the process for you:

Below is the step-by-step break down to set up your follow-up emails and to tag the person appropriately so you can send them relevant follow-ups:

​🔧 PART 1: Create Your Tag

     1. Log in to ActiveCampaign

     2. Go to the Contacts menu on the left sidebar.

     3. Click on Manage Tags (under the dropdown next to "Contacts").

     4. Click the “Add Tag” button.

     5. Enter a name for your tag (e.g., Welcome Email Sent, New Subscriber, or whatever makes sense for your funnel).

     6. Click Save.

💌 PART 2: Create Your Welcome Email

     1. Go to the Campaigns tab in the left menu.

     2. Click the “Manage Emails” tab at the top.

     3. Click “Create an Email”.

     4. Name your email (e.g., "Welcome Email").

     5. Choose “Standard” or “Automated” (this is for the email design, not the automation yet).

     6. Choose a template or start from scratch.

     7. Write your welcome message (you can personalize with the subscriber’s name using %FIRSTNAME% or the “Personalize” button).

     8. Once you're happy, Save and Exit.

🔄 PART 3: Create the Automation

     1. Go to the Automations tab.

     2. Click “Create an Automation”.

     3. Choose “Start from Scratch” and click Continue.

🧲 PART 4: Set the Trigger

     1. Choose a trigger:

     2. If it's a form: Choose "Subscribes to a list" or "Submits a form".

     3. If it’s a tag or manual entry, choose accordingly.

     4. Select the specific list or form.

     5. Click Start.

🧱 PART 5: Add the Steps to the Automation

Step 1: Add the Tag

     1. Click the + (plus) sign under the trigger.

     2. Choose “Contacts” → “Add tag”.

     3. Type the tag name (e.g., Welcome Email Sent or New Subscriber).

     4. Click Save.

Step 2: Send the Email

     1. Click the + (plus) sign again under the previous step.

     2. Choose “Sending Options” → “Send Email”.

     3. Choose the Welcome Email you already created or make a new one on the spot.

     4. Click Save.

     5. (Optional Step: Add a wait time before the next step if needed)

PART 6: Activate the Automation

     1. Review the automation steps.

     2. When you're ready, click the "Active" toggle in the top right corner of the automation builder.

🎯 Final Check

     1. Go to Contacts, test the trigger (e.g., submit your form or add yourself to the list).

     2. Confirm the automation tags the user and sends the welcome email.

And that's it, you are automated....
